Easter sees the start of the beach season on the beautiful Costa Blanca in southern Spain; the sun is shining and the sea is warming up nicely. This area is very popular with visitors, especially those with young children. The town councils along the Costa Blanca are very good at keeping the beaches clean, with many beaches having been awarded the coveted Blue Flag for excellence.

However, every summer the Red Cross lifeguards on duty are kept very busy rescuing people from the sea because swimmers are reckless or sometimes just downright stupid! Sadly, sometimes the Red Cross are unable to save people and they die.
